FIELD GUIDE / KEYKATANA

A quick guide to cleaner cuts

KeyKatana gives two ninjas one minute and the same falling fruit. A short word near the floor is tempting, but a longer word near the top may give you more time to finish. Each is worth one point.

Start with the first letter

Type the opening letters of a fruit label. The matching fruit becomes your target. If you change your mind, backspace until the input is empty. Then type the first letter of another label.

Watch the landing line

Fruit falls while the one-minute clock runs. A word that is still unfinished when its fruit lands will not score, so switch targets when time is tight.

Finish the word to score

The first completed word accepted by the game earns that fruit. Each slice is one point. The higher score wins, and matching scores draw.

Questions from the dojo

Can I play without another person?

Practice Dojo starts a bot round right away. Find a Match gives a real player 30 seconds to join before pairing you with the Dojo Bot. Private rooms wait for the friend who has your six-character code.

Why did my word not score?

The fruit may have landed, or the other player may have completed it first. A match needs an active connection for shared play; if the connection drops, return to the lobby and start a fresh round.

What do WPM and accuracy mean?

WPM means words per minute. Five correct letters count as one word. Accuracy uses all letter attempts: five correct and four wrong in a full minute gives 1 WPM and 56% accuracy. Backspace does not add an attempt.

How do I practice without rushing?

Spend your first round finishing words you can type without looking at the keyboard. Check your accuracy afterward. In the next round, try to slice one more fruit while keeping that percentage steady.

What happens if both players finish together?

The server awards the fruit to the first valid completion it receives. The other ninja can immediately target a different fruit. Finishing different words at the same time can score a point for each player.
